Repent or Perish (Luke 13: 1-9), Children

Children's Liturgy of the Word:
Repent or Perish (Luke 13: 1-9)

Sunday, March 23, 2025

On March 23, 2025, the Children's Liturgy focused on the Gospel theme “Repent or Perish,” teaching children about the importance of repentance and spiritual growth. The children learned that just as a tree must bear fruit, their faith should grow by turning to God in repentance. To bring this powerful message to life, each child was given a growing bean sprout to take home, symbolizing their personal spiritual growth. As they received their sprout, the children reflected on how they could "bear good fruit" in their lives through loving-kindness, and prayer.

The facilitator spoke to the children about how repentance is not just about saying sorry, but about truly changing our hearts and actions, much like a tree that must bear fruit if it is to fulfill its purpose. The event ended with a positive affirmations shared by the children, and each child took home their bean sprout as a reminder of the lesson and their commitment to grow in faith.
